Packing Tips
Packing a residential or office items

Packing/Moving Tips
- Donate unused items to charity or have a garage sale.
- Start packing items you don’t use regularly prior to your move. (photo albums, books, seasonal decorations etc.)
- Assign children responsibilities so they don’t feel left out. (Sort through old toys, make price tags for yard sales, practice writing out change of address for grandparents and friends.)
- Create a log of moving expenses and keep all moving-related receipts. (Some items may be tax deductable. You can check with your accountant.)
- Use lots of white packing paper with breakables or valuable. Don’t use newspaper for inner layers as newsprint can rub off and can stain some items like fine china)
- Set aside flammable or explosive items – propane tanks, cleaning fluids, paint, aerosol cans, ammunition etc. Such items are not allowed onto the moving truck.
- Defrost freezer (place a container of baking soda inside refrigerator & freezer to keep odours away)
- Use up all perishable and frozen foods before moving day.
- Prepare an “open-first” box with towels, bedding, basic kitchen and bathroom supplies, toys or games, tools (hammer, screwdriver).
